Last week, the gold spot price rose 2.19% even though the U.S. Dollar Index ended flat. The Gold Bullion Strategy Fund (QGLDX) gained 1.81% for the week. The prices of short-duration fixed-income ETF holdings were also flat, on average, last week. The value of the COMEX gold futures, which closes early at 1:30 p.m., advanced 1.88%.
